USA Basketball announced Thursday that Jennifer Rizzotti will coach the defending Olympic gold medalist women’s 3×3 team at this year’s Paris Games, and Joe Lewandowski will coach the U.S. men’s team in the same competition.
Rizzotti will be supported by Tammy Reese. Lewandowski will be assisted by James Frasilla. The rosters for the men’s and women’s 3×3 teams will likely be finalized sometime this spring.
“Two accomplished coaches will lead the 3×3 effort in Paris,” said Jim Tooley, CEO of USA Basketball. “We thank them for their continued contributions to USA Basketball and are proud that both 3×3 teams will have the opportunity to compete in the Olympics.”
Lewandowski has been involved with USA Basketball’s 3×3 efforts for 10 years, leading the U.S. to gold at the Pan American Games and silver at the World Cup last year.
“There is no greater honor than representing your country at the Olympics and wearing USA on your chest,” Lewandowski said. “This is incredibly humbling.”
Last year alone, Rizzotti coached three gold medal-winning women’s 3×3 teams for the United States at the World Cup, America Cup and Pan Am Games. She won a gold medal as assistant coach to Dawn Staley at the 5-on-5 level at the Tokyo Olympics and is chair of the U.S. Basketball Women’s National Team Committee, which selects the 5-on-5 squad for the Paris Games.
“I am honored to continue my journey in USA Basketball as the head coach of the 2024 USA 3×3 Women’s National Team,” Rizzotti said. “It has been the joy of my career to coach athletes who represent their countries on the biggest stage of the Olympics.”
