The Galaxy S24 is now in stores, and despite some drawbacks, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is definitely the best choice among the three devices. But if you buy a Galaxy S24 model in the US, you’ll be glad to know that all three models are equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip. If an overseas buyer wants to avoid Samsung’s Exynos 2400 chip, he should choose the Ultra.

Both chips should deliver good performance for the Galaxy S24, and there’s no sign that the Exynos 2400 suffers from the same issues as its predecessor. You’ve probably heard about the big problem by now.

The best way to really test the Galaxy S24’s performance is to run our regular speed tests that compare the latest Android flagships to the latest iPhones. In this case, we found that the Galaxy S24 Ultra lost out to the iPhone 15 Pro Max in our speed tests. But when it comes to this common competition, the top Galaxy S phones and Apple’s best iPhones are closer than ever.

In October, we saw that the iPhone 15 Pro Max had the upper hand, although the Galaxy S23 Ultra won against the iPhone 15 Pro Max by a few seconds, as seen in the screenshot below. I’ll show you a repeat of the same test, and once again his Apple iPhone wins.

It’s the same test because it comes from the same source. phone buff YouTube channel. They are my favorite source for speed tests like this because their methodology is closest to science. Of course not, but this is as close as any YouTube channel that does this kind of testing will come.

Rather than looking at benchmarks where the iPhone always wins; phone buff We will try to recreate the use of real smartphones with the help of robots to see which smartphone is faster.

The “race” between the Galaxy S24 Ultra and iPhone 15 Pro Max takes two laps. The former opens the same collection of apps in the same order on each device for the first time. This indicates how fast your phone opens apps and performs certain in-app tasks.

The iPhone usually wins this round. But year after year, Samsung seems to be getting closer and closer to actually beating the iPhone.

The second time around, open the same suite of apps in reverse order. This tests your phone’s ability to keep apps loaded into memory. Android smartphones usually have more RAM and seem to be popular this round. However, Apple optimizes memory usage more than his Samsung. And the iPhone 15 Pro Max also defeated the Galaxy S24 Ultra in this second round.

Overall, the iPhone’s lead is less than 3 seconds. This is a better result than the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s performance against the same iPhone 15 Pro Max model.

The obvious conclusion is that the Galaxy S24 Ultra offers a very fast experience. It might be a few seconds slower than the iPhone, but you won’t know until you use both devices. And the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 versions of the Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus should be just as good. However, the base model has 8GB of RAM instead of 12GB.

The iPhone 15 Pro model, on the other hand, has the same A17 Pro chip and 8GB of RAM. So even the smaller iPhone 15 Pro is faster than the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

The ball is now in Apple’s court. The iPhone 16 series will feature a brand new chip, and the iPhone 16 Pro should be better than the A18 processor. But we’ll have to wait until October to see similar tests in action. Meanwhile, the speed test of Galaxy S24 Ultra is as follows.
