Exploring the Science of Safety at USU’s Friday Night Event – ​​Cache Valley Daily

Karl Farley, an industrial hygienist at USU, will be the featured speaker at Science Unwrapped on Friday, February 9th. He will speak “Waves, Forces, and Torques: The Science of Safety” in the Eccles Science Learning Center on campus starting at 7 p.m. All are welcome and admission is free.

LOGAN – A tradition at Utah State University since 2009, this week’s Science Unwrapped event will focus on industrial hygiene explained by USU industrial hygienists.

Carl Farley, a senior lecturer in the USU Department of Biology, will present “Waves, Forces, and Torques: The Science of Safety” on Friday, Feb. 9, at 7 p.m., in the Emmert Auditorium of the Eccles Science Learning Center.

This is the fifth presentation in this year’s Science Unwrapped “Building on Basics” series.

Farley explains that industrial hygienists are scientists and engineers who work to protect us from hazards such as chemical exposure, radiation, and biological stressors in the workplace.

USU is one of four accredited undergraduate industrial hygiene programs in the country.

Following Mr. Farley’s presentation, USU student groups and community volunteers will lead hands-on learning activities, followed by refreshments.

This is the 16th year that the USU College of Science has hosted Science Unwrapped.

Admission is free and everyone is welcome to participate.
