This is kind of sad…

The person who wrote this article on Reddit seems like a really nice guy, but I can tell he’s pretty upset about what happened here…

But did he go too far?

Check out his story and you be the judge.

“myself [31M] And with my long-term boyfriend [30M] We bought a house together in June of last year.

I come from a large family, with eight cousins and about 20 nieces and nephews, making me the oldest of my generation.

I also have a fairly well-paying job, and so does my boyfriend.

My boyfriend hasn’t had contact with his family in over 10 years, and he’s been coming to my family’s celebrations since before we started dating.

He is a generous person.

Within my family, I’m known as a bit of a gift splurge, and my kids are always excited about my gifts. This is because presents are usually large items, such as Lego sets.

Well, here’s the story: So today (I think it was yesterday) my family had a pre-Christmas celebration. Because we won’t be able to meet anytime after this week this year. It was held at me and my boyfriend’s new house and was our first family event here.

My boyfriend really wanted to participate in the gift-giving, so we spent an average of $100 each to buy presents. He was so excited to give everyone presents because we spent a lot of time choosing presents for everyone as well as money.

They were about to be shocked.

The festival was a huge success, and my boyfriend and I took some time apart to spend some quiet time together.

As we were resting on the stairs, I heard my cousin’s voice. [17F] chatting with my niece [15F].

They were joking about some family members and talking about my boyfriend and how he was “too terrible to function.”

It’s gotten even uglier…

Honestly, we didn’t really care about it, it’s a movie reference and they’re kids, but then another cousin came along [24M] came in and started telling even harsher jokes, which the children laughed at.

These “jokes” brought my boyfriend to tears, but I refused to listen to them.

When the gift transaction began, I took the three of them aside and told them that I wasn’t happy with their comments and that they shouldn’t have been said.

I told them to apologize because it wasn’t fair to my boyfriend, but they refused because it was a joke they shouldn’t have heard.

he made a decision.

I told them I didn’t care and they had to apologize.

They refused again, so I told them they didn’t respect him and were not entitled to the presents we got them.

This caused them to retract and say they would apologize, but I told them it was too late but they still needed to apologize. This is where I think I may have been too harsh.

My cousin’s youngest son told his mother, my aunt, that I refused to give her and two other people presents, and she was furious about it, and my niece’s parents and my cousin’s male I told my father and partner all about it. There was a big fuss among them.

My sister and I kicked them out and when they tried to grab their presents before leaving, I stopped them and rushed them out the door.

Then everything fell apart and everything ended very suddenly.

AITA who kicked them out or took their gifts away because of a joke? ”

So let’s see what people had to say about this on Reddit.
