Arlington – Now that the dust has settled from Sunday’s World Cup announcement, officials are planning to take advantage of the potential multibillion-plus dollar impact.
Hotels in Arlington are already firmly booked for the event, which is still more than two years away. Prince Lebanese Grill operates just down the street from AT&T Stadium.
“You can see AT&T Stadium from those windows, so we’re really excited about having a stadium here in 2026,” said Aziz Kovti of Prince Lebanon Grill.
Kovti’s kitchen staff serves hot Mediterranean food, and Kovti thinks of ideas to make money at the 2026 World Cup.
“We’re definitely going to try to mix it up and, breaking news right now, we’re probably going to look at a truck holding some events here to promote the great atmosphere of the games.” Cobti said.
Both Loews hotels at Texas Live will be fully booked by the time the 2026 World Cup schedule is announced Sunday, and short-term rental facilities are being built nearby, according to the Greater Arlington Chamber of Commerce.
Housing is just one beneficiary of an event that Chamber President and CEO Michael Jacobson believes could have an economic impact of more than $1 billion.
“We know it’s going to be a significant number,” Jacobson said. “I don’t want to throw it away…It could be all, the dry cleaners could benefit from that. Being in the business of selling to people who are here for a long time or a short time. Anyone who is.”
Arlington built and paid for the venue needed to host nine World Cup games, but with international attention focused on a venue called Dallas Stadium, Arlington will have to accept being called Dallas. .
“Dallas is a brand recognized around the world,” Jacobson said. “So I couldn’t be more proud.”
“Everyone can come together and make sense of politics.”
Business owners like Kovti don’t care what the stadium is called, as long as World Cup traffic comes here.
What the World Cup governing body calls the stadium is still subject to change The Arlington Chamber of Commerce said it is conducting an analysis of the event’s potential economic impact.
