The Swiss watched from the leader’s chair as all 29 racers behind him lost significant time on the course.

“It’s just unbelievable. I was really lucky to only finish 30th on the first run, but then I had a great second run and… wow, it’s just unbelievable. It was a long wait, but it was very good,” he told FIS after the Yule race.

“I thought, ‘Okay, the weather is warm and I have a perfect track and maybe I can fight for top 10 or something,’ but I never thought I would win.”

Even as a first-time leader Clement Noelentered the hill with a huge lead of 1.93 seconds over Yule, but lost all his advantage and finished third with a gap of nearly two-tenths.Yule teammate Loïc Meillard I was in 2nd place.

Olympic champion Noel told Eurosport after the match: “I think it was one of the best races I’ve had so far this season. It was really difficult at the end, it was a really bumpy race. I think we had a chance to win this race, it was really close,” but that’s it. Yes, that’s part of ski racing. ”
