HONOLULU (KHON2) — Miss Hawaii USA returns to the Hawaiian Islands and prepares to hand over the crown to the winner of the 2024 Miss Hawaii USA pageant.

Savannah Gankiewicz from Maui competed in Miss USA 2023 and was the runner-up. For her, becoming Miss Hawaii helped her grow into the person she is today.
She stole the show at the costume contest by dressing up as Lahaina’s iconic banyan tree.
“I had the opportunity to wear a banyan tree costume for my state. It holds a special civilization for the people of Maui and what happened,” she said. “I just wanted to show that even when traumatic events occur, we can persevere and keep moving forward.”
Gankiewicz returned home to assist Miss Hawaii USA in the recruitment process for both the next Miss Hawaii USA and the next Miss Hawaii Teen USA.
“I’m here to recruit girls to join me on this journey,” Gankiewicz said. “It was actually the best experience, the best year of my life.”
The organization plans to host workshops for women interested in the sport.
“You go on stage to be true to yourself and just shine. It’s so beautiful to see all the contestants, each and every one of them feeling beautiful from the inside out on stage,” she added.
