But many have learned the hard way that Android 14 doesn’t bring good news in every way. The new operating system seems to be wreaking havoc on the Android Auto world, causing issues that can sometimes prevent apps from running.
According to user reports, Android 14 causes three major issues with Android Auto.
First, the OS causes connectivity issues. Some users are claiming that their smartphones are no longer able to connect to the infotainment system, even though the same hardware is working properly on Android 13. After installing a new operating system, Android Auto no longer loads. Affected users tried common workarounds such as a complete reset of their infotainment system or mobile device, but nothing restored Android Auto.

Second, Android 14 will break Spotify. A widespread bug prevents media apps from displaying the “Now Playing” interface. The audio plays in the background, but Spotify doesn’t show any information about what’s playing. This application worked fine on Android 13, but when my mobile device was updated to Android 14, I started getting this strange bug with Spotify, which has not been fixed yet.
Third, Android Auto wireless doesn’t work on Android 14. Users claim that the smartphone connects to the infotainment system only through a cable. This issue started occurring after updating to Android 14, as everything was working as expected on Android 13.
Now, here comes the tricky part.
All these reports seem to suggest that Android 14 is responsible for a number of bugs plaguing Android Auto, but some users are saying that after installing the operating system on their smartphones, everything is fine. It claims to work fine. What’s even more confusing is that some users claim that everything works fine on hardware configurations (same smartphone and car model) that were flagged as broken by other users.

I use a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra to run the app, connected to a Suzuki Vitara with factory Android Auto support. No adapter is used to run the app. My wired connection experienced random disconnections, but since updating to Android 14, my wireless connection has been working fine. Spotify works fine, as does the wireless connection.
