According to Forbes, cybersecurity company ESET has categorized these apps into three categories: VajraSpy, SpyLoan, and Xamalicious. Each category is based on the malicious code the app has. For example, VajraSpy includes a spy app that can steal contacts, files, call logs, SMS messages, etc. Conversely, the SpyLoan app is designed to steal bank account information, messages, and contacts. Finally, Xamalicious software typically disguises itself as harmless health or horoscope apps, allowing these programs to control certain device features.

Google has since removed most of them from the Play Store, but some remain publicly available, according to security software company McAfee. You may not have downloaded these apps, especially if you only use popular programs like Instagram, TikTok, and Snapchat. But it pays to check, especially since this type of software can ruin your life.
