One former member of Bermuda’s reinsurance community has been replaced by another at the helm of Greenlight Capital Re, a Cayman Islands-based multi-casualty insurance and reinsurance company.
Former Harbor Point Re Chief Underwriting Officer Greg Richardson will be appointed effective January 1, replacing former Tac Re Chief Executive Officer Simon Barton, who will retire from the Board of Directors on December 31. Becomes CEO.
Mr. Richardson will join the company’s board of directors. The company announced that Burton will serve as an advisor and provide interim services until April 2024.
In Bermuda, Mr. Barton worked at Lancashire Insurance Group as Deputy Chief Executive Officer and at Ace Insurance as President of Financial Solutions International.
He has been CEO of Greenlight since mid-2017. Mr. Richardson previously served as Chief Risk Strategy Officer at TransRe from 2014 until 2023.
Previously, he was responsible for strategic planning and underwriting, and served as Chief Underwriting Officer from 2006 to 2013 at Harbor Point Re, which merged with Max Re Capital to form Alterra Re.
