Hailey ‘can’t believe’ Taylor Swift has ‘overtaken’ politics

Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley incredulously weighed in on the ongoing debate among Republican politicians about singer Taylor Swift.

“I’m not going to lie. I don’t know what that obsession is,” Haley told CNN’s Jake Tapper on Thursday.

“Taylor Swift is allowed to have a boyfriend. Taylor Swift is a good artist. I once took my daughter to a Taylor Swift concert. There are conspiracy theories about all of this. It’s weird that there is,” she continued. “No one knows who she’ll support, but I can’t believe it’s dominating our national politics.”

Swift has become one of the most polarizing figures for the Republican Party in recent days, after reports emerged that President Biden’s reelection team was actively seeking her support.

Conservatives are incensed in part by Swift’s past criticism of former President Donald Trump and the success of her efforts to register young people to vote.

Politicians and reporters are currently paying attention to her romance with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce ahead of the Super Bowl.

Former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy is among those hinting that the secretary’s Super Bowl run is a ploy to draw more attention to Swift in an eventual bid to support Biden.

Ramaswamy posted on social media: “Who will win next month’s Super Bowl?” “And will we see massive presidential support from artificially culturally supported couples this fall?”

Swift, who finished the year with a record-breaking tour, has yet to announce support for any candidate, although she endorsed Biden in 2020.

In an interview Thursday, Haley, the only remaining candidate running against Trump in the Republican primary, tried to steer the conversation away from the singer.

“That means 60 percent of American families are living paycheck to paycheck right now. We have borders that are out of our control. There are wars going on all over the world,” Haley said. . “What I think we really need to worry about is who Taylor Swift is dating and what conspiracy theories will lead her to support a presidential candidate.”
