OnePlus Open was our favorite foldable of 2023. OnePlus knocked it out of the park on its first try itself, but the Open proved it has a lot of catching up to do in areas pioneered by Samsung. However, the OnePlus foldable device lags behind the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 in an important area: software updates. Samsung’s 2024 flagship foldable received an Android 14 build within months of the OS’s release, but the Open update was nowhere to be found. In late December, the company began beta testing OxygenOS 14 for mobile phones, and now, a month later, stable builds are available to the public.
As of now, OnePlus is pushing stable OxygenOS 14 builds to open users who participated in closed beta and open beta programs in India (via Android Authority). A broader rollout to more regions is expected in the coming weeks.

In addition to all the features of Android 14, OxygenOS 14 brings some highlights, including an improved shelf that supports more widgets, and a file dock for dragging and dropping content between compatible OnePlus devices. Improvements are being made.

OnePlus recommends that your foldable device must have at least 5 GB of free space and at least 30% battery before you begin the installation.
With the OnePlus Open, the BBK-owned company has proven that it can create attractive foldable devices. But the company also needs to ramp up its efforts in the software update department to ensure it doesn’t take months to release the latest Android release to its flagship foldable devices.
