A West Hollywood woman says an Uber driver stole her expensive bag containing her passport, house keys and iPhone, and used it to track her belongings.

Five days later, she still hasn’t been able to get her belongings back, even though her iPhone’s location shows her home in Los Angeles.

Julie Miller said she filed a report with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and tried to call Uber for help. NBC4 interviewed Miller from her hospital bed as she continues to battle her infection.

“I had a catheter in my chest that got infected and was removed yesterday,” Miller told NBC4. “It’s scary to think he has a key to my house and knows where I live.”

She said it happened at 10:15 a.m. Thursday morning when a car dealer ordered an Uber to pick her up at her apartment in West Hollywood.

“My dog here came with me, and he had a big bag. It was a Gucci bag, so I think I was the target,” Miller explained. did. “She stumbled out of the harness. I put her purse in the back of her car and said, ‘Can you give me a second?’ And he said, “No problem.” ”

She said when she picked up her dog, the driver, who had a 4.99-star rating on the app, took off.

“And within an hour, he siphoned almost $1,000 from my bank account,” she said, adding that he also took her passport, keys and iPhone.

“He’s an idiot. He still has my phone and I’ve tracked him to this address several times,” Miller told NBC4 on her iPad.

Miller filed a report with LASD’s West Hollywood Division, which said the address where her iPhone frequently appears is within LAPD jurisdiction.

“I called the Los Angeles Police Department, staked out my joints like I was one of Charlie’s Angels, and knocked on doors with a collie stick just in case. I showed the pictures to the neighbors and walked up and down every driveway. I looked for his car,” Miller said.

It’s been 5 days and she still can’t find him. Prior to her interview, she said she was unable to speak with an Uber representative.

“Maybe he thought I had a lot of money because I had a Gucci bag or something, but I don’t… and he thought his I can just focus on my job… and nobody does anything,” Miller said, fighting back tears.

“We have a 24/7 customer support team that responds to all issues, including lost items, and we continue to investigate rider reports,” an Uber spokesperson told NBC4 in an email.

NBC4 is also waiting for more information from police and the Sheriff’s Office.
