(Reuters) With American pop star Taylor Swift performing more than 40 shows across 18 European cities this summer, some ticket scalpers are looking to make a quick buck.
The singer’s multi-billion-dollar Erasmus tour is also sending prices soaring in the hospitality industry as North American “Swifties” flock to Europe, where ticket prices can be up to 80 percent cheaper due to tougher consumer protection laws.
High demand saw thousands of fans rushing to secure tickets, with the venue selling out within minutes, much to the disappointment of many.
Despite many countries restricting secondary market ticket sales to root out fraud, those who missed out on tickets are now turning to ticket resale platforms, where prices can reach many times face value.
