Android 15 Beta 3 brings some tweaks to the screenshot preview UI and also reveals work on generative AI stickers exclusive to the Pixel.
About APK Insight: In this APK Insights article, we’ve decompiled the latest versions of applications that Google has uploaded to the Play Store. By decompiling these files (called APKs for Android apps), we can see various lines of code that hint at future features. We don’t know if Google will ever release these features, and sometimes their interpretations are incomplete. However, when features are close to being finalized, we try to give you a glimpse of what they might look like if they are released. With that in mind, read on.
The redesign displays screenshot previews above a new pill-shaped container with circular share and markup buttons, replacing a more compact side-by-side approach.
Something old and something new

However, it’s not clear whether this stacked look is the final design or a bug. When copying text or images, you get the old layout with the updated pill shape, but the new version has only two actions, which makes it look a bit odd. If it’s intentional, Google may be prioritizing screenshot previews.
Meanwhile, in Beta 3, the screenshot UI uses a light background even if the system’s dark theme is enabled.

Speaking of markup, Android 15 Beta 3 revealed the existence of a new “creative assistant” app/service exclusive to Pixel devices.

It will be integrated with screenshot editing tools, and will apparently let you generate (“remix”) and apply stickers to your images. Markup is unchanged in this beta, but already lets you crop, add text, draw, and highlight. In addition to screenshot previews, it’s also integrated into the system share sheet, Google Photos, and the Files app.
Given that Creative Assistant requests AICore permission, stickers could potentially be generated using on-device models, which could be a fun expressive feature that offers a more end-to-end experience than Gemini’s image generation.
Some APK Insight teardowns benefited from JEB Decompiler.
