The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to explain the front page article published in FrontPageAfrica, Volume 10, Issue 173, Thursday, September 15, 2016, under the headline “Africa Betrayed?” and, to the contrary, to affirm the commitment of the Government of Liberia to the decision of the African Union to support the candidacy of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia in the 2017 elections for Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO).
The FrontPageAfrica article points out various issues, including that while the African Union approved Ethiopia’s candidacy for the post of Director-General of the World Health Organization, at the African Union summit in January 2016, Liberia ran alongside a French candidate in opposition to the African Union’s decision.
