The iPhone 5S has officially been discontinued

The inexorable march to the grave continues for all of us, but at least it’s not a fickle god called Apple that decides our fate. iPhone 5S, you should know that Apple has officially discontinued its old phones. The 21.5-inch iMac (which, if you think about it, is a very small screen by today’s standards) first appeared in late 2015. If you’re still using an iPhone 5S, you’re not likely to get many OS or security updates. Only iPhone models from the second generation iPhone SE and later and iPhone Xs and later models can get OS and security updates. iOS17 Update.

Instead, the iPhone 5s will be remembered as a different era for Apple, when it was intent on releasing an updated iPhone every year, rather than making a new model every year. iPhone 15 Now it’s a great phone, but it’s only a moderate upgrade from its predecessor. iPhone 14.

From what I’ve seen so far, iPhone 16 Performance has improved, and zoom is supposedly better too, but the real difference in phones this year is in the software, and iOS 18 is set to bring some pretty big changes with more features.
