First, there are two ways to access the Gboard settings menu. If you’re using a keyboard, tap the gear icon just to the right of the center of the row of icons on the top row of your keyboard. Otherwise, opening Gboard from the app drawer will take you directly to the settings menu. (There is also a quick settings menu, indicated by a two-by-two rectangle at the far left of the icon row above the top row of keys, but it does not include AutoCorrect settings by default.) Tap to access the autocorrect menu.
Most autocorrect settings are controlled by toggle switches and cannot be tweaked. Most settings have short descriptions detailing what they do, so they tend to be very self-explanatory. Only Smart Compose does not have such a description. Smart Compose makes suggestions based on your writing history and if it thinks you’re in the middle of typing a commonly used phrase.
Otherwise, which settings to adjust will depend on whether your personal use of Gboard causes any autocorrect behavior you’d like to change. This includes an “AutoCorrect” toggle that you can turn off if you’re having trouble with Gboard’s autocorrect and simply don’t want to use the feature at all.
