Trump supporters repeat pro-Palestinian ‘Massacre Joe’ chant

SCHNEXTVILLE, Pa. — “Genocide Joe” is a phrase used by pro-Palestinian protesters to criticize President Biden for his unconditional support of Israel amid the onslaught in Gaza.

But supporters of former President Donald Trump adopted the chant at a campaign rally Saturday night — just hours after Iran launched retaliatory drone and missile attacks on the country this weekend. This despite pledging unconditional support to Israel.

As Trump spoke from a stage in a large field at the Schnecksville Fire Department, his supporters began chanting “Genocide Joe, Genocide Joe.”

Mr. Trump paused for a moment and then said: “They’re not wrong, they’re not wrong. He did everything wrong.”

Iran launched more than 300 drones and missiles toward Israel on Saturday, most of which were intercepted by Israel, the United States, and its allies. The attack, carried out in retaliation for Israel’s attack on an Iranian diplomatic compound two weeks ago, has been widely condemned by world leaders, including Mr Biden, who has pledged “ironclad” support for Israel’s security.

It’s unclear what exactly Trump’s rallygoers meant when they shouted “Genocide Joe,” but the phrase has become popular among some Arab American and Muslim voters, as well as progressives. They also use the phrase to criticize Biden for continuing to send arms to Israel in the military operation in Gaza. According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, there are 33,000 Palestinians. After Hamas militants breached the Israel-Gaza border fence and rampaged through the border fence between Israel and Gaza on October 7, killing an estimated 1,200 people, many of them civilians, and taking about 250 hostages, Israel Started a war in the enclave.

Democratic voters in Michigan, Wisconsin and other states called Biden “irresponsible” in their states’ primaries in a warning to the president that he could lose votes in November if he doesn’t call. or organizing a “no-direction” voting effort. A permanent ceasefire and an end to military aid to Israel.

Congressional Republicans are pushing for more U.S. aid to Israel, but the Republican-controlled House has passed a bill passed by the Democratic-controlled Senate several months ago that would send aid to Israel, along with Ukraine and the Indo-Pacific region. I haven’t brought it up yet.

President Trump opened Saturday’s rally by claiming that the attack from Iran “would not have happened” if he were president, but he did not explain how he would have prevented it.

“I want to say God bless the people of Israel. They are under attack right now,” he said. “We are showing great weakness.”

In the final days of Trump’s presidency in 2020, Iran attacked US military bases in Iraq, resulting in dozens of soldiers suffering traumatic brain injuries.
