Kia Motors has announced that its upcoming lifestyle pickup truck for the global market will be named Tasman, after Australia’s southernmost island, Tasmania. The brand also revealed that the model will debut in 2025. The previously spy-tested Tasman will be the company’s first lifestyle pickup truck and will be sold in global markets including South Korea, Australia, Africa and the Middle East. . The model may also reach Indian shores at a later stage, although the manufacturer has not confirmed this yet.

Spy shots of the upcoming pickup truck show styling cues in line with models like the Telluride, including vertical-shaped LED projector headlamps and a larger version of the mesh-style grille.
The pickup truck could be styled similar to the Telluride sold in global markets
The Tasman will be powered by the brand’s 2.2-litre turbodiesel engine, which is currently used in models such as the Sorento and Carnival facelift. The engine produces 197 bhp and 440 Nm of torque and has the potential to send power to all four wheels through both automatic and manual transmission options. An all-electric version is also expected to be in the pipeline, debuting later.

In the global market, the Tasman is expected to compete with the likes of the Ford Ranger and the Toyota Hilux currently sold in the Indian market.
