Google Photos makes powerful AI editing tools available to everyone for free

Google announced on Wednesday, April 10th that it will expand its popular AI photo editing features in Google Photos. Not only will more users have access to certain features, but they will also be able to use those features without additional fees or subscriptions.

According to the company, these features include Magic Eraser, Photo Unblur, Portrait Light, and more. They work on Android smartphones running Android 8 or later, or iPhones running iOS 15 or later, and the device requires at least 3GB. For a Chromebook user, the functionality is limited to his Chromebook Plus device running ChromeOS 118 or later.

In addition to extending these features to more devices, Magic Editor will expand beyond the Pixel 8 series to enable more complex editing on “all Pixel devices.” However, while these features will be made available for free to more users, the company plans to limit the number of Magic Editor saves users can create. Android and iOS users can only make 10 of these saves per month, and will have unlimited storage unless they subscribe to a Google One plan with 2 TB or more. Pixel users will automatically have unlimited storage.
