Apple is reportedly moving from cars to robots? After canceling its electric car project in February, the iPhone maker is now turning it into a personal robot that can follow you around the house, according to a report from Bloomberg. They say they are paying attention.

The project is reportedly in its early stages, but it’s unclear whether the product will become a reality. But now that Apple has halted a decade-long effort to develop an electric car, home robots could be the company’s “next big thing,” people familiar with the matter told Bloomberg.

But home robots could give the company a new way to leverage artificial intelligence and gain a foothold in people’s homes, Bloomberg notes. According to the report, along with the mobile robot, Apple has developed an “advanced tabletop home device that uses robotics to move the display.” The report says its smart displays are more advanced than mobile robots, and executives are divided on whether to pursue the product, saying it has been added to and removed from the company’s product roadmap over the years. “Ta”.

Apple has been slow to incorporate AI into its products and services, but advances in that area could be used to enhance its rumored robotic products. If the company eventually launches Homebot, it will join the ranks of Amazon’s $1,600 Astrobots, which can deliver snacks, patrol your home, and follow you during video calls. can.

Apple similarly envisions robots functioning as self-navigating video conferencing tools, and has even touted the idea of having robots do chores like washing dishes, according to Bloomberg. It’s unclear whether these more ambitious features, or the robot itself, will ever see the light of day. But if that happens, it will likely be several years before Apple robots roam your home.
