RAPIDS CITY, S.D. (KELO) — Rapid City area middle school students had the opportunity to learn about different cultures from around the world today at a cultural fair held at South Dakota Mines.

In this cultural exploration, international students represent and share information about their home countries.

Most of the 11 cultural booths were run by students from the School of Mines, who happily represented their country and culture.

“This is like the Midwest, it’s like the middle of the country, so to show that there are so many different countries and that they can exist in the Midwest and showcase their culture is a great way to show that America “I think it’s a great way for people to learn about different cultures,” said Yash Niak, an SD mining student volunteer.

One of the participating schools, Empower ED, frequently hosts field trips for students to explore new things.

“The fans, the way they used the fans was really great. It’s very cool, but it’s a one-time thing and it’s great to get that chance,” said Empower Education Department student Valeria・Huerta said.

“I think it was a good learning experience. It helps me expand my horizons of the world and meet new people,” said Empower ED student Fritz Rangitch.

Mines hopes each student will be able to learn something new and take away something new after this event.

“The most important thing is to learn that there are different cultures in the world and that they have their own traditions and values that are different from yours. Therefore, it is very important to know that “I think so, and I want my students to learn about all the wonderful things that different countries have to offer: all the amazing monuments that they have, their languages, their clothing, and their food,” Niak said. Told.

The cultural expo will continue this Saturday, with nine different cultures represented through food and entertainment.
