These are my favorite MagSafe stands for iPhone and StandBy

One of my favorite features of iOS 17 is standby. This turns your iPhone into a smart display when it’s charging in landscape mode. One of the best ways to get the most out of StandBy is with an upright wireless charger.

Let’s take a closer look at three of my favorite MagSafe stands for iPhone that are perfect for standby.

What is standby mode in iOS 17?

The Standby feature in iOS 17 is a new lock screen mode that activates when your iPhone is placed on its side while charging. This is similar to Nightstand mode on the Apple Watch and provides a useful information display when the phone is not actively being used.

Standby mode is also highly customizable, allowing you to choose to display photos, widgets, different clock designs, and more. It features an interactive and customizable photo screen where you can choose specific themes like nature, pets, cities, people, etc. or view specific albums from your photo library.

The watch screen in standby mode comes in a variety of themes, including digital, analog, world, solar, and float, some of which display additional information such as temperature and upcoming alarms. Notifications, live activities, and Siri responses are also integrated into standby mode and displayed in a full-screen design.

Another intelligent feature of StandBy is MagSafe location awareness. It remembers your preferred screen and widget configurations based on the location of your charger.

You can enable Standby mode and manage its options by going to your iPhone’s Settings app and tapping the “Standby” mode menu.

Belkin 2-in-1 Wireless Charger with MagSafe

Belkin makes many of my favorite Apple accessories, so it’s also my go-to standby iPhone charger. The Belkin MagSafe 2-in-1 Wireless Charger comes with a stand that can charge your iPhone at 15W and a Qi charging pad integrated into the base to charge your AirPods.

There are three things I really like about Belkin’s 2-in-1 MagSafe wireless charger. First, it features a premium design with a solid base and modern chrome finish. Secondly, the circular design allows him to charge two devices at the same time, yet it has a small footprint and won’t take up much space on his desk. Thirdly, it has received his MagSafe certification by Apple.

As mentioned above, you should consider choosing a StandBy charger that supports Apple’s MagSafe technology. This is because MagSafe-enabled iPhone stands can remember your standby settings.

For example, I have a MagSafe iPhone stand on my desk and a nightstand, each with a different standby setting. With MagSafe, StandBy remembers my settings and automatically displays the appropriate widgets and options for each stand.

Satechi Aluminum 2-in-1 Magnetic Wireless Charging Stand

Price as of April 3, 2024: $59.99

If you’re looking for something similar to the Belkin 2-in-1 stand, with an aluminum design and a lower price point, Satechi is the way to go. The Satechi Aluminum 2-in-1 Magnetic Wireless Charging Stand features an upright iPhone charging stand alongside a Qi charging pad integrated into the base.

There are two things to note. First, the iPhone’s wireless charging doesn’t support MagSafe, so it’s up to 7.5W. Next, Satechi does not come with an 18/20W power adapter in the box, so you will need to prepare the 18/20W power adapter yourself.

If you can tolerate these compromises, you can purchase the Satechi 2-in-1 wireless charger on Amazon. Like Belkin, it also sells a more expensive 3-in-1 version with built-in Apple Watch charging capabilities.

Anker 3-in-1 cube (with MagSafe)

Price as of April 3, 2024: $134.95

If there were an award for the smartest design, Anker’s 3-in-1 Cube with MagSafe would win. Charge your iPhone at 15W, fast charge your Apple Watch, and charge your AirPods all in a small, collapsible cube.

nomad stand one

Price as of April 3, 2024: $110

If you’re looking for an ultra-premium option for an iPhone standby charger, our friends at Nomad are here to help. Nomad Stand One features an upright design made of solid metal and glass, as well as an integrated braided USB-C cable for charging. It’s MagSafe certified and can charge at up to 15W charging speeds.

With a 21-degree viewing angle, Nomad Stand One is perfect for standby mode. The biggest drawback here is that it’s on the high end in terms of price and can only charge iPhones.
