How to screen calls and stop spam flooding on your Android smartphone

I used to get a lot of spam calls. I could count at least 3-4 phone calls interrupting my day every day. Because of these calls, I decided not to answer the call unless the caller was a legitimate company or a saved contact. So I got a lot of voicemails, and thanks to Android’s automatic transcription, it was very easy to tell if the caller was spam or not.

So when Google introduced the call screen feature to Android, it was a game changer. I would go so far as to say that this feature is probably my favorite addition to the platform. This not only allows him to avoid 99% of the spam calls he receives, but also dramatically reduces the number of spam calls he receives.

how? One of the features of Android’s call screen is the ability to tell the caller to remove me from your list without having to speak to them. And it works! Combining call screening with the “Request to remove my number from your call list” feature has reduced the number of spam calls I receive to almost zero. I can’t remember the last time I received a spam call.

Yes, it works.

Call Screen is also easy to use and is enabled by default, so you can just let Android do everything for you.

Of course, there are options. Modern versions of Android ship with automatic call screening enabled. Call screening happens in the background without user interaction. If you’re worried about missing certain calls, you can disable this and manually screen calls. This is what happens when you receive a suspicious call.[Screen Call]Just tap. Otherwise, do nothing. The caveat to the manual option is that it’s not available on all devices. Therefore, if your Android smartphone does not offer manual call screening, you should use the automatic option.

Before we explain how to make this change, please know that Call Screen is only available in the following countries:

  • Australia
  • Canada
  • France
  • Germany
  • Ireland
  • Italy
  • Japan
  • Spain
  • England
  • we

Manual call screening is available only in the United States and Canada on some Android devices using a SIM card from a country where call screening is available.

With that in mind, let’s walk you through how to set up your Android’s call screen.

How to screen calls on Android

Configuring Android call screen features

Things necessary: All you need is a supported Android device in a country where this feature is available. that’s it. Let’s move on to configuration.

First, open your Android Phone app. Once open, tap the three-dot menu button at the top right of the window,[設定]Tap.

On the page that appears, tap Call Screen to access settings.

If your device supports manual screening (such as Pixel 8 Pro), you’ll see an on/off slider to automatically screen calls. If you want to handle screening yourself, tap to disable that feature. If you want to continue using automatic options, leave them checked. When you enable automatic screening, you can choose from three options:

  • Maximum protection: Screen all numbers not in your contact list and automatically reject spam.
  • Medium protection: Screens suspicious calls and automatically rejects spam.
  • Basic protection: Automatically reject known spam.

The default setting is basic protection, which worked for me. I like this option the most because it allows me to manually screen incoming calls if they are not known to be spam. This way, I know that calls I expect (calls from unknown numbers, such as those from companies or services trying to contact me) will be automatically screened and not blocked.

Basic protection is the best automatic option for most users.

That’s all you need to know about how to screen calls on your Android device. As I mentioned earlier, this feature has dramatically reduced the number of spam calls I receive. That means this feature is a must (for me).
