Samsung users have been warned to update their phones sharply after a “critical” issue was patched by the Android phone maker.
Samsung, Apple, and others continually provide updates to their devices, and criminals are constantly targeting our devices for financial gain.
It not only targets the operating systems used by both iOS and Android phones, but also attempts to penetrate security systems through third-party apps such as WhatsApp.
Samsung has now released the April security patch for its flagship Galaxy smartphones and tablets.
Samsung Galaxy S24 got the patch earlier, arriving in March for those who own the more expensive model.
Samsung revealed this update and detailed exactly what vulnerabilities were fixed for users using Android OS smartphones.
A total of 27 issues have been fixed via Google, including one that was marked as “critical” by the manufacturer after being flagged as a “common vulnerabilities and exposures” (CVE) item. An additional 17 issues have been reported as Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVE) items.

When releasing the patch, Samsung said: “To increase customer confidence in the security of Samsung Mobile devices, Samsung Mobile provides the 17 Samsung vulnerabilities and exposures (SVE) items described below in addition to the Google patches.
“Samsung Security Index (SSI), SMR April 2024 Release 1 under ‘Security Software Versions’ includes all patches from Samsung and Google. Some SVE items may not be included in this package if these items are already included. In previous maintenance releases. ”
Four of Samsung’s patches are said to be high-risk. Although not detailed, the risks associated with these issues are only accessible through direct access to the device, rather than through remote malware.

The patch reportedly blocks the vulnerability for end users using Samsung Pay.
Unless you download updates and sync them with your device, Samsung users are open to attacks from hackers who can potentially capture your personal information.
There is little information about this “critical” issue, referred to by the manufacturer as CVE-2023-28578, which was noted by Samsung and patched by Google.
If you’re not ready to download updates to your Samsung Galaxy device yet, don’t worry. This is being gradually rolled out by Samsung, with newer model phones at the front of the order.

But if you currently own a Samsung Galaxy S20 model, the bad news is that security updates are now coming quarterly instead of monthly. That could also be why the update is not completely ready yet.
If your model is a little older, you may have to wait your turn.
