The U.S. Shooting Paralympic Team competed at the 2024 World Shooting Parasports (WSPS) New Delhi World Cup, March 6-15, earning two medals and two U.S. Paralympic berths at the 2024 Paris Games. Obtained.
McKenna Gear, Benjamin Hayes, and Madison Champion began the accomplishments for the U.S. team by winning bronze medals in the Team R4 10m Air Rifle SH2 Standing. For Gere, this was her first international match since giving birth to her first child a little over a year ago. Geer is a 2016 Paralympic R5 10m air rifle prone SH2 bronze medalist and a Tokyo Paralympic athlete.
The team’s bronze medal was the first international medal of Hayes and Champion’s shooting career. The pair added another medal to their collection by winning silver in the R11 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team SH2 Standing. The Americans scored a total of 627.4 points and qualified for the gold medal match. Champion placed first overall in the qualifying round with a score of 314.5, while Hayes placed third overall in the qualifying round with a score of 312.9.
The champion also earned a Paralympic berth for the United States in the R4 10m Air Rifle SH2 Standing. The US team currently has two spots available for this tournament, meaning the team can qualify two of its players for Paris 2024. The champion from Greenville, Texas, is aiming for his first Paralympic appearance.
Tokyo Paralympic athlete Kevin Nguyen also won a Paralympic berth for the U.S. in Paris with his R6 50m rifle prone. Nguyen, a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army Marksmanship, is no stranger to international success. He won a bronze medal in the R6 50m rifle prone at the 2023 Parapan American Games and a bronze medal in the R6 50m rifle prone at the 2023 WSPS Changwon World Cup.

The U.S. Paralympic Team will compete in the third and final selection for the 2024 Paris Games. Part 3 will be held from April 21st to 28th in Anniston and Talladega, Alabama.
