The course will host the qualifying rounds for the U.S. Senior Open on May 14th.

“We’ve never hosted anything like that,” head golf pro Don Berry said. “Athletes who play with it will be competing in the U.S. Senior Open this year in Newport, Rhode Island.”

Berry said because these qualifiers are regional, most of the contestants will be Minnesotans.

“The majority will be Minnesotans,” he says. “We get people from Iowa and Western Wisconsin, but anyone can come here.”

Coming in August

Another event coming to Brooklyn Park for the first time is the Minnesota Women’s Open on August 1st and 2nd.

“There’s going to be a lot of great kids and college golfers playing. They’re going to be the best women’s golfers in the state of Minnesota,” Berry said. “It will be the largest girls golf tournament in the state, so I think there will be a big crowd watching.”

He said the US city of Edinburgh is well equipped to host such an event.

“The fact that an organization like this is coming here shows that the golf community really appreciates and values ​​this course and wants to bring the biggest championships to this golf course. It shows,” Berry said.
