A retired Florida couple said “arrival” to their daily lives as they traveled the world.
According to SWNS, John and Bev Martin sold their home and all their belongings to spend their retirement trekking around the world.
According to the paper, the pair, parents of five and grandparents of eight, bought a campervan in 2020 and began traveling around the country and the world.
“We realized we didn’t need a big house, and that started the journey of thinking about what we wanted to do in retirement,” said John, 60. “We thought, ‘Why not go see the world?'” [So] We sold our house, downsized to a few backpacks, and have been traveling ever since. ”
“One day we sat down and realized we had money to travel in retirement. We realized we were retiring at a young age and looked at our budget and realized we could afford to travel two months a year. I understand that,” he added. Bev, 61 years old. “But if I sell my house and belongings, I can afford to go on a big adventure.”

By November 2021, SWNS announced that John and Bev had sold their home in a Florida retirement community and donated their furniture and belongings to charity.
Since then, they have visited a total of 92 countries including the Bahamas, Vietnam, Brazil, Mexico, Romania, Indonesia, Colombia, Guatemala, Greece and New Zealand.

According to SWNS, John and Bev said their kids were excited for them when they told them they were going on what they called a “trip of a lifetime.”
“We have five children and eight grandchildren, and all of our children are very excited about this. They are looking forward to us living their best lives. “I think so,” Bev said.
She added: “I hope we can set a good example for them that it’s not the material or the item that matters. It’s the connections and the experience that are important.”

Looking to the future, Bev said she and John hope to someday travel with their grandchildren once they are old enough.
“We want to give them and our grandchildren the gift of world travel. We want to change their lives. We want to take them on trips around the world,” she said. explained.
