Is it possible to actually get TikTok burn-in on your iPhone screen? What you need to know

If you’re an avid TikTok user, you may have seen videos in your feed of people claiming to have TikTok buttons “burned into” their phone screens. This means that even after you close the app you’ve been using for hours at a time, you’ll still see a faint image of the app’s button on the screen while you use other apps.

ZDNET’s Kerry Wan reports that this was a complaint from a user using the iPhone 15 Pro Max, but an unconfirmed Reddit post claims that ghostly TikTok images exist on Android phones and other iPhone models. Reports can be found. Apple calls this issue “display image persistence.” If you think images of recently closed apps are appearing faintly on his iPhone screen, there’s an easy fix for iPhone owners. Explained below. However, judging from people who have reported experiencing screen burn-in, the problem doesn’t seem to be widespread.

If screen elements from recently closed apps remain visible, your device may need to be updated. If you want to know more about phone burn-in, keep reading. For more information, see Why you should update to iOS 17.4.1 now.

Does your iPhone have screen burn-in?

The iPhone 15 device comes with an OLED screen, which was well-received in our reviews. However, under some circumstances that are not specific to Apple phones, burn-in can occur on his OLED screen on both the TV and the phone. Apple said that OLED screens also “may experience burn-in in more extreme cases, such as at the same high contrast.” The image continues to be displayed at high brightness for a long time. ”

It’s worth noting that no one on the CNET Mobile team saw any signs of burn-in while testing the iPhone 15 Pro lineup. I also checked on several iPhones, but fortunately I didn’t see any ghost images.

And there’s probably a reason. There’s very little burn-in on OLED phone screens, and all the phones I checked were running the latest iOS.

What should I do if my iPhone shows screen burn-in?

If you think your iPhone 15 is showing signs of screen burn-in, make sure you have the latest iOS updates. why? At the end of 2023, Apple released iOS 17, which reportedly included a fix for something called “display image persistence.”

To find out which iOS your iPhone runs on, visit: setting > general > about And if you look to the right iOS version. The latest iOS is 17.4.1. To update, please visit the following link: setting > general > Software updates and tap Update now.
