Hammond Academy of Science and Technology had to start the season on the road Friday, but it wasn’t the start they were hoping for. They suffered an 11-1 defeat at the hands of River Forest Ingots. Hammond Academy of Science and Technology has struggled recently against River Forest, as Friday’s game was their eighth straight loss.
On River Forest’s team, Sebastian Collazo IV made a big impact on the pitching and hitting. He struck out 13 batters in six innings, giving up five hits and only one earned run (one walk allowed). Collazo IV was also very active at the plate, reaching base in two of his three at-bats, scoring two runs and stealing three bases.

With the win, River Forest moved back to even standings at 1-1.
Hammond Academy of Science and Technology leaves to face Hebron on Monday at 4:45 p.m. As for River Forest, they will remain home for another game, hosting Bowman Academy on Saturday at 11 a.m.
