After updating Shazam on Wear OS, you can use it to identify songs directly on your smartwatch. You can get the latest Shazam updates from the Play Store and use the app whether you have your phone with you or not. Another new feature is the ability to instantly sync recognized songs across devices. Once you open the app, you need to tap on the Shazam icon to start listening to the music playing around you. Please note that Shazam on Wear OS still requires internet to function. If your watch is offline, the app will record the song you try to identify and name it when you’re back online. Google ships Wear OS with built-in music identification, but it’s still faster than using Shazam on your Android smartwatch. Google Pixel smartphones have a great Now Playing feature that automatically identifies songs playing around you. While it would be great to see this feature added to Wear OS, the unfortunate reality is that Google is slowing down the pace of development of its smartwatch platform.
Shazam may be a better alternative to Wear OS’s built-in song recognition feature for some people, as it can sync across platforms and automatically add identified songs to Spotify playlists.
