iPhone 16 Pro may use polished titanium instead of brushed finish

iPhone 16 Pro may be polished titanium | View 2017 Essential Phone

Apple has developed a new finish for the titanium frame of the iPhone 16 Pro models, replacing the matte look of the iPhone 15 Pro with a “more polished material,” according to a new report.

The iPhone 15 Pro’s change from stainless steel to titanium frame brought three benefits, but not everyone likes the somewhat dull-looking finish, and that may be something Apple has addressed…

Apple switches to brushed titanium

Apple has long used stainless steel frames for its iPhones, which are polished to a high-gloss finish, as seen below.

For the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, Apple has switched to a brushed titanium frame. This gave him three advantages:

  • Writer
  • Fingerprint resistant
  • Scars are less noticeable

However, despite these benefits, some people prefer the look of polished stainless steel over a subdued brushed surface. Let’s see the difference here. First up is the polished stainless steel of the iPhone 14 Pro.

And here’s the iPhone 15 Pro brushed titanium:

Some Redditors are discussing the possibility of sanding and polishing the frame to get a shiny look similar to the stainless steel model. The general consensus is that this is not a good idea, but one person was able to get great-looking results with his Series 7 Apple Watch, which is made of titanium.

news aggregator You1122 Claims iPhone 16 could have a glossier finish (machine translation).

Unlike the 15 Pro model, the iPhone 16 Pro model is said to use improved titanium processing and color processing.

Therefore, there is a possibility that the material may be changed to a more polished material.

Our sister site 9to5Google The short-lived 2017 Essential Phone had a polished titanium frame, as seen in the main photo above, which gives us a clue as to what this might look like. (I removed the rear camera etc. so that it does not get in the way.)

Which finish do you prefer?

If you had a choice between a high-gloss finish like previous stainless steel models, a polished titanium look on the 2017 Essential smartphone, or a brushed titanium look on the iPhone 15 Pro, which would you choose?
