- The Walt Disney Company announced the rollout of Hulu on Disney Plus, available to all U.S.-based Disney Bundle subscribers.
- This integration brings all of Hulu’s content into the Disney Plus app, so users no longer have to switch between apps to find the shows and movies they’re looking for.
- The company says standalone Disney Plus/Hulu users have the option to upgrade to the bundle for an additional $2 per month.
Today (March 27), it was announced that Disney Bundle subscribers in the U.S. will have access to Hulu on Disney Plus as it begins rolling out.
According to a press release, Hulu on Disney Plus will combine streaming content libraries from both platforms into one place. The company says subscribers will start seeing Hulu titles, recommendations, sets and collections on Disney Plus without having to switch apps. Disney hopes this will lead to a more customizable and personal experience for users viewing content on the platform.
Additionally, standalone Disney Plus subscribers will be able to access Hulu content on multiple devices via an “upsell option.” This means users will find a “convenient” way to upgrade their plan to the Disney bundle for an additional $2 per month.
The post reiterates that Disney Bundle plans start at $9.99 per month. It’s worth mentioning that nothing changes with Hulu on Disney. Both services will continue to be available independently to consumers if they wish.
Disney is asking users to create viewer profiles and check their settings to make sure they find the content they’re most interested in.
Joe Earley, president of Disney Entertainment’s direct-to-consumer division, said:[the] The official launch of Hulu on Disney+ gives viewers even more opportunities to easily discover and enjoy thousands of titles in one place, highlighting the exceptional value of Disney bundles. ”
Meanwhile, Disney Plus is launching a new campaign to celebrate Hulu’s participation, starting with an all-new logo. The company says the rollout will include a new Disney Plus intro color palette that mixes Hulu’s green with the former’s legacy blue.
Additionally, the orchestral mnemonics (sounds in the animation) were reimagined by Academy Award-winning composer Ludwig Göransson.
Disney is also launching an on-property campaign at the Disneyland Resort, including social media platforms and on-air digital spots.
Disney Plus and Hulu have been implementing this integration in beta since November, and today’s rollout makes it official. Users should start noticing that Hulu content is now available on the Disney Plus app and have the option to upgrade to bundles as the days go by.
