After all, Google added support for system-wide dark mode in Android 10, and Apple did the same with iOS 13, and both were released to control smart doorbells, security cameras, and other useful features. The Wyze app was a bit late to the scene, but added support for the burgeoning dark mode in January. Now we’re going one step further.

In a January 2024 post on its support page, Wyze announced that it had added dark mode to “select pages” in its app. However, if you don’t regularly check your security camera app’s settings, you probably didn’t notice the change since the app still defaults to light mode. Now, what has been added to the app is: system default This setting respects Android’s dark mode setting, and this option is enabled by default.
Wyze is finally going dark by default — at least on some screens.
What this change means is that if you have dark mode enabled in your phone’s settings, you will see a dark UI after updating to Wyze app version 2.50.0.437. But don’t worry, Lite mode lovers. As long as the system theme is set to light mode, things are still blindingly white.
Wyze’s original “some pages” qualifier continues to apply after this update. Most settings pages and elements such as bottom-sheet menus, shop and monitoring tabs continue to have white backgrounds for now. however,[ホーム]Tabs and[イベント]The main UI such as tabs, camera controls, and video playback interfaces now have a dark gray background.
I’d be a little happier if the dark mode got its accent color from Android’s Material You Dynamic theme, but for now I’m really happy to finally have a proper dark mode, even if it’s still a little sketchy.
