SCORENigeria can exclusively report that Salisu Yusuf and Daniel Amokachi are among those who applied for the Super Eagles coaching vacancy.
Last week, the NFF announced that interested and qualified coaches should apply to become head coach of the country’s team.
This follows the termination of the contract of Portuguese player Jose Peceiro, who led the team to the final of the recent AFCON in Ivory Coast.
“I know that Daniel (Amokachi) has applied for the position, and so has Salisu (Yusuf),” a well-informed source exclusively told SCORENigeria
Salisu Yusuf was previously interim coach of the Super Eagles following stints with the Flying Eagles and Chan Eagles.
However, his career was temporarily halted after he was suspected of accepting cash payments from an undercover journalist in Ghana.
The former Enyimba and Kano Pillars coach is currently working at Rivers United, who reached the quarter-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup.
“The Bull” Amokachi, who only recently served as the presidential assistant for sports, also threw his hat into the ring.
The former World Cup star assisted Stephen Keshi when the Super Eagles last won the AFCON in 2013.
He has also worked with the U23 national team, although with limited success.
Super Eagles teammate Emmanuel Amuneke also confirmed that he applied for the top post himself.
