What are performance spots in Europe?
The European performance spot is awarded to the association whose club had the highest overall performance in the previous season’s UEFA men’s club competition (i.e. the association’s club coefficient for the previous season, which is calculated based on the club coefficient points earned by each club). Italy and Germany currently have the highest association club coefficients for the 2023/24 season and will each take the European performance spot.

Which club will continue to claim the European performance spot?
Roma and Leipzig will now automatically gain a place in the league phase through the European Performance Spot.
Both associations will have four automatic league phase slots for the 2024/25 season, with teams finishing in the top four in the Serie A and Bundesliga standings guaranteed a place in the league phase.
Therefore, each association’s European performance spot will be awarded to the team in fifth place in their respective league table.

Who else will qualify for the league phase?
The European performance spots will occupy two of the four slots added to next season’s competition. Other additional rankings will be awarded as follows:
slot 3: This position is awarded to the club ranked 5th in the Access List (France) and 3rd in the Association Championship, determined by the UEFA Association Club Coefficient Ranking for the five years up to the end of the 2022/23 season. .
slot 4: This position is awarded to the national champions by increasing the number of clubs qualifying via the Champions Pass for the competition’s qualification process, which consists of three qualifying rounds and a play-off, from four clubs to five clubs .
