Zimbabwe’s Thomas Zondo Sakala will compete against seven other candidates for president of the African Development Bank (AFDB), according to an official list released on Friday.
The list of candidates was announced following a meeting of the AfDB Board Management Committee held on February 11 at AfDB’s headquarters in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.
The eight will be vying to replace Donald Kaberuka, a Rwandan national who ends his second and final term in May.
Mr. Sakala, a former AFDB executive, is a member of Mr. Akinwumi Adesina (Nigeria), Mr. Sufyan Ahmed (Ethiopia), Mr. Jalul Ayed (Tunisia), Mr. Kolje Bedumula (Chad), Mr. Cristina Duarte (Cape Verde), Mr. Samurai Mr. Camara (Sierra Leone) must repel the Malian challenge. Bilama Boubacar Sidibe.
Each candidate is required to provide a written statement in both English and French by March 20 about their vision for the bank.
