SUSSEX, Wis. (CBS 58) — A group of local students are getting ready to pack their bags for an amazing trip to Europe.
Sussex Hamilton High School marching band students have been selected to celebrate 2025 in parts of Rome, Italy.
“The fact that our high school band is letting our group do this is absolutely insane,” Sussex Hamilton High School senior Zach Cavara said. I can’t believe it happened,” he said.
Marching band students will perform in the 2025 Rome New Year’s Day Parade.
High school students will join around 2,000 performers to march through the streets of Seven Hills as Europe and the rest of the world celebrate 2025.
“They are experiencing a new world with their friends, colleagues and peer groups, while also gaining life experiences that will forever stand them in good stead,” said Bob Vaughn, Founder and Executive Director. said. Director of the Roman New Year Parade.
Bourne went on to say that bringing American marching bands across the ocean will expand the minds of European audiences.
“The bands we look for, the groups we look for, are bands that play crowd-pleasing music and are passionate about adapting to the context in which they play,” Vaughn said.
“It was really important and exciting to me to be able to offer something like this to our students,” said John Waite, head of instrumental music at Sussex Hamilton High School.
Waite said the students will undergo hours of training before heading to the Eternal City.
“We’re going to start as soon as the school year starts in August and September and start putting together a plan,” Waite said.
