North West Premier Bushy Mape and former MP Nono Maloi are vying for the chairpersonship at the African National Congress (ANC)’s 9th Electoral Conference in Rustenburg.
The appointment of the new top five leaders was completed on Sunday morning. Voting will begin later Sunday.
Former chairman Supra Mahumapelo, who was said to be returning on a RET ticket, was not included as a candidate. He then left the meeting to begin legal action.
Paul Sebegwe has been appointed as vice-chairman along with Raji Mokosi. Luis Delemero and former ANC Youth League (ANCYL) national vice-president Kenetswe Mosenogi, who was initially recommended for the president’s post, are competing for the secretary post.

The conference was marred by delays and court filings by disgruntled ANC members.
