CASPER, Wyo. — Students from Kelly Walsh High School and CY Middle School recently won the regional Science Bowl competition, according to a press release from the Natrona County School District.
The Science Bowl provides students with an opportunity to demonstrate their science and math knowledge as well as teamwork in a quick question-and-answer format.
“Their impressive performance has secured them a coveted spot at the upcoming national competition, where they will represent not only the state of Wyoming, but the spirit of exploration and excellence within the school community. ” states the press release.
Student teams demonstrated remarkable academic excellence and ingenuity through the Science Bowl, competing with schools across the state with rigorous scientific knowledge and critical thinking skills.
For the fifth year in a row, Kelly Walsh High School celebrated as the 2024 Wyoming Regional High School Science Bowl Champions.
KW Science Club holds mock science bowls throughout the school year with large groups to practice learning how to respond quickly to questions while using strategic critical thinking skills to avoid mistakes .
Science Club students are also devoting time and effort to studying and planning for the 2024 Wyoming Science Olympiad competition later this spring.
CY Middle School students also practice as part of the STEM club, participating in the annual Science Bowl and Science Olympiad competitions.
They will be able to demonstrate expertise across a variety of scientific disciplines, from physics to biology, while emphasizing the importance of teamwork and communication in scientific endeavors, the press release states.
