Lectures on Women in Science: Dr. Mary Rogers

Dr. Mary Rodgers received her PhD in biology and biomedical science from Harvard University and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in molecular immunology at the University of Southern California. She was recently hired as an Associate Research Fellow by Abbott’s prestigious Vollweiler Institute for Science, and is the research manager for the Abbott Pandemic Defense Coalition (APDC), where she leads program operations and virus surveillance around the world.

APDC is a unique global science and public health partnership working to detect and prevent future pandemic threats. As part of this effort, Dr. Rogers will work with Viral Diversity in HIV, Hepatitis Viruses, and SARS-CoV-2 to reduce the impact of new variants on Abbott’s portfolio of serological, molecular, and rapid diagnostic products. is focused on tracking. APDC also coordinates infectious disease research studies to monitor endemic and emerging pathogens in more than 18 countries. She has authored or co-authored over 40 publications and contributed the genomes of thousands of viruses to public databases.
