Add it to rice.

This is an old hack that many people rely on when faced with a wet iPhone.

Absorbent rice helps draw out moisture and protect your phone from liquid death, right?

Apple stepped in to quell the confusion, but in any case, the answer is a resounding no, according to the tech giant.

“Do not put your iPhone inside a rice bag,” the company said in a recent support note spotted by Macworld.

“Then, the small grains of rice could damage your iPhone.”

Rice can introduce dust and starch into your phone. Small particles can also get inside the charging port or speaker.

Apple also advises against drying the phone’s connection points with cotton swabs or paper towels, and against using external heat sources such as hair dryers.

Instead, the company has its own “hack” to save your wet phone.

First, unplug any charging cables or headphones and don’t reconnect them until your phone is completely dry.

Charging your phone with a wet connector can cause corrosion and permanent damage, causing problems with your device’s connection.

Apple recommends that you “tap your iPhone in your hand with the connector facing down to remove excess liquid.”

Then place it in a dry place with airflow.

Try charging your device after at least 30 minutes.

If you see the “Unable to charge” or “Liquid detected in USB-C connector” warning again, leave your phone to dry completely for up to a day.

If your phone doesn’t work at all, you may want to go to the Apple Store.
