Recently, the Faculty of Science launched a ‘residence study’ designed to help me get to know the culture of the university I now proudly call home. Faculty members in the Department of Science should have received emails about the study on my behalf from my administrative assistant, Sam DiMuzio. If you believe you should have received that email and did not receive it, please contact Sam via email.
This anonymous survey takes approximately 30 minutes to complete and asks a variety of questions about your experience working in the Faculty of Science. The survey is anonymous so you can feel safe expressing your feelings. It is important to get as many responses as possible to your survey. We can only deal with what we know. This study aims to promote a positive working environment and enable faculty and staff to be productive members of the university while maintaining a work-life balance.
Once all survey results have been collected, a newly established climate committee will evaluate the responses and look for common themes. The committee then develops an action plan to address the issues and improve the university to be a place where everyone can thrive.
With a wide range of personal experience ranging from the youngest faculty member in my department to department chairs and associate deans, I offer empathy and an open mind to those considering completing the survey. I want you to know that I will read their responses.
I will do my best to ensure that all members of the Faculty of Science have the resources they need to succeed. I also look forward to learning more about the Faculty of Science atmosphere from the people who work hard every day to support our students. The faculty and staff in the School of Science are an inspiration to me and I am grateful for the opportunity to work with them.
