Apple is following a similar pattern, warning iPhone users not to use charging accessories because the charging connector may have moisture on it that could harm your smartphone. Apple has published an advisory on its support page that clearly states what actions to take and what to avoid if moisture is detected.

In one of its points, Apple made it clear that putting an iPhone inside a rice bag is not a suitable solution. The common solution of putting the iPhone inside a bag of uncooked rice can cause further problems as smaller rice grains can cause more damage.
The company also advises against inserting foreign objects, such as cotton swabs or paper towels, into the charging connector. Additionally, using an external heat source to dry your iPhone can also cause damage.
Here are Apple’s recommended steps if you receive a liquid detection warning on your iPhone.
- Unplug the cable from your iPhone and the other end of the cable from the power adapter.
- Don’t plug the cable back in until your iPhone and cable are completely dry.
- With the connector facing down, tap your iPhone in your hand to remove any excess liquid.
- Place your iPhone in a dry area with airflow.
- After at least 30 minutes, try charging with a Lightning or USB-C cable or connecting an accessory.
- If the warning appears again, leave your iPhone in a dry, well-ventilated area for up to a day.
- Please try charging or connecting accessories again during this period.
- If your phone is dry but still won’t charge, unplug the cable from the adapter, disconnect the adapter from the wall, and plug it back in.
