In commemoration of world social justice day, we have no choice but to accept the principles enshrined in the United Nations Charter, international human rights law and international humanitarian law. These are legally binding promises that can really be simplified into a single universal rule: the Golden Rule. This rule is found in all of the world’s major religions and spiritual paths and is easily relatable and understandable by every human being on the planet.
In the 21st century, the world must finally establish social justice. The kind of justice we promised him would deliver in 1945 and the years that followed. However, we have not fulfilled those promises or legal commitments. Armed conflicts, atrocities and human rights violations against vulnerable and innocent children and young people are increasing every day in almost every region of the world.
Instead of enjoying the right to a quality education and the opportunity to realize their dreams and potential to the fullest, they are running for their lives, suffering injustice, and living in a nightmare through no fault of their own. . Is this the world we promised them? Is this all we can deliver to them? We need to seriously rethink a more constructive and responsible path forward.
The challenges before us are daunting.
