RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech pitcher Brooke Melnichak has been named the Blenders Eyewear Conference USA Pitcher of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Melnychuk is 2-0 this season and has yet to allow an earned run in 11.2 innings pitched. The redshirt junior had nine strikeouts and allowed just four hits and two walks. In addition to her 0.00 ERA, she owns a WHIP of .51 and holds opposing batters to a .100 batting average.
In the season opener against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (February 12), Melnichuk pitched a no-hitter through five innings, with four strikeouts and no walks, earning his first win of the season. Melnychuk, making his second start of the season, pitched five innings in a 5-2 win over ULM (February 16), striking out a career-high five batters and allowing just three hits and two walks for his second win. listed.
