The iPhone SE 4 is expected to be released in 2025 as Apple continues to source parts for its next low-cost iPhone.
According to a report from The Elec, screen component manufacturers Samsung Display, Tianma, and BOE are negotiating with Apple regarding the price of OLED displays. These displays are believed to be made to the same specs as those found on the 6.1-inch iPhone 14, and are a significant upgrade from the current iPhone SE’s 4.7-inch LCD panel.
As a result of inheriting the iPhone 14’s screen, the iPhone SE 4 is expected to feature a notch with Face ID instead of thick bezels with a Touch ID home button. Some sources claim that similar to the iPhone 15 series, the new iPhone SE will instead feature a dynamic island, but given that the notch was used on the iPhone 14, this is unlikely. It seems unlikely.
A big upgrade is coming
Previous rumors suggested that the iPhone SE 4 could inherit even more features from the iPhone 14, including borrowing the battery. However, Apple may differentiate the new SE from older flagship phones by having only one rear camera (though it could also be a high-resolution 48MP camera).
The latest iPhone SE will be released in 2022 and uses the basic design and components (excluding the chipset) of the iPhone 8 released in 2017. Even a design based on the 2022 iPhone 14 is a bit outdated at this point, and even older. By next year, we’ll see a big difference in the new iPhone SE.
If 2025 is the year we see a new iPhone SE, it will arrive in the spring or summer like previous iPhone SEs, and cost less than $500 like the best budget phones. . In that case, it would provide a welcome, cheaper alternative to the iPhone 16 series, which is scheduled to launch this fall as planned. So is Apple’s usual $800-plus flagship pricing.
