“American Idol” 2024 premiere date, time, and where to watch season 22

Get ready to sing your heart out as “American Idol” Season 22 returns to your screens this month.

Season 22 of the long-running reality singing competition returns with host Ryan Seacrest returning and judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie. After seven seasons, this season will be Perry’s last as a judge, as she announced on Monday’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” that she is soon leaving the show.

American Idol, which has aired since 2002, has launched the careers of many artists over its 22 seasons, including Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson, Adam Lambert and Clay Aiken.

The season begins with three episodes of auditions before a group of lucky singers earn a coveted trip to Hollywood.

“American Idol” Season 22 will premiere on Sunday, February 18th at 8pm EST on ABC. New episodes air every Sunday.

Who are the judges on ‘American Idol’ season 22?

Ryan Seacrest also returned as host, appearing on almost every season of American Idol.

Perry made the announcement on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Season 22 will be her last season as a judge on American Idol. She told Kimmel that the other judges knew she was “planning some things this year,” including an appearance at the Rock in Rio music festival in Brazil.

The show held both virtual and in-person auditions for season 22. In-person auditions were held in Los Angeles and the judges’ hometowns in 2023.
