2024 World Aquatics Championships

8th day qualifying start list

8th day qualifying event schedule

  • Men’s 400IM
  • Women’s 400IM
  • Men’s 4×100 medley relay
  • Women’s 4×100 medley relay

The final day of the Doha 2024 Games has arrived, but only two different competitions will take place in the qualifying session. The 400 IM and 4×100 medley relays are scheduled for both men’s and women’s races, and the session is expected to last about an hour.

The men’s 400 IM was the first event, and the American carson foster and Japan Daiya Seto Among the top candidates. Both swimmers have personal best times of 4:06, with Foster swimming 4:06 in the past two world championship finals. Foster won the silver medal at the 2023 Fukuoka World Championships, and Seto won the bronze, but both athletes were far apart from their respective best times in the 200 IM in Doha.

Two names that could ruin their plans: Alberto Lazzetti (ITA) and Lewis Clairvert (new zealand). Lazetti has already won two medals here in Doha, silver in the 200m fly and bronze in the 200m IM. Lazetti set his new record for this 400-meter distance in November at Riccione with a time of 4:09.29. Clairbert is the 2022 Commonwealth Champion of the event, winning with a best time of 4:08.70.

The women’s 400IM is one of the most open events of the meet, featuring the top seeds. Freya Colbert British teams top the entry list. She competed with a time of 4:35.28, representing Italy’s Sarah Franceschi (4:35.98) Less than the second. These two swimmers are also top returners from last year’s finals, where Colbert finished fifth and Franceschi sixth. In that final, Colbert touched about 2.5 seconds faster than Franceschi.

World Junior Championship silver medalist, Canadian Ella Jansenranked 3rd on the entry list. Her best time of 4:37.35 came at the World Juniors in September, and if she can match that time she will be in contention for a podium spot.

Two young American athletes will be racing again this morning. Kayla Han and Lila Bogner. Neither swimmer has ever broken the 4 hour 40 minute barrier, but if they can swim around their current best times, they will have a chance to advance to the finals.

Another name to watch is Jansen’s teammate. Tess Chepurcha. She swam lane 7 in heat two with a time of 4:42.81. She has her best time of 4:37.26 recorded at her 2021 Canadian Olympic Trials, and that time could very well be worthy of a Doha medal.

The medley relay will be the final qualifying event for the Doha World Championships, with the United States being the defending champions for both men and women. The U.S. men will definitely be the favorites, assuming they make it safely to tonight’s final. The expected lineup is hunter armstrong (100 backstroke gold medalist) Nick Fink (100 times breaststroke gold medalist) Zack Harting (fly) and matt king (free).

Italy is also a medal candidate Nicolo Martinenghi Breaststroke and Alessandro Milessi For free. Italy won the 2022 world title at this tournament, with three of their four players competing in Doha.

The women’s relay is not as clear-cut as the men’s. The U.S. women’s team will likely consist of the following, assuming they field their best lineup for tonight’s final. Claire Curzan (backstroke), piper engine (breaststroke)Kate Douglas (butterfly), and addison souky (Freestyle).

The Australian team seems to be in very strong contention. Iona Anderson (backstroke), abby harkin (breaststroke), Briana Throssell (butterfly), and Shayna Jack (Freestyle).

Sweden could also be a factor, as long as it doesn’t hurt.they have Louise Hanson, Sophie Hanson, sarah sjostromand Michelle Coleman can be used freely by them. Sophie Hanson will definitely compete in the breaststroke division, but Louise Hanson could swim back or fly, Sjostrom could swim fly or free, and Coleman could swim back or free. They have multiple lineup options, with Louise Hanson at the back, Sjostrom at Frey, and Coleman at free, in theory, making the most sense.
